Every plate in our range is built to BS AU 145e and road legal. But 5MM Gel plates combine the two most premium elements
we produce into a single plate: the ultra-deep 5mm raised acrylic characters of our 5MM plates — and the premium
polyurethane gel coat finish of our 4D Gel and 3D Gel plates. The result is a plate that offers maximum raised depth,
maximum gloss, and maximum durability simultaneously.
HOW 5MM GEL IS CONSTRUCTED — LAYER BY LAYER
Layer 1 — Premium Polyurethane Gel Coat
Applied over every raised character. Creates a smooth, glass-like gloss surface. UV-stable and scratch-resistant. The same gel coat used on our 4D Gel and 3D Gel plates — now applied over 5mm characters.
Layer 2 — 5mm Laser-Cut Raised Acrylic Characters
Each character individually laser-cut from premium 5mm acrylic and precision-bonded. Charles Wright font. 79mm height. Correct BS AU 145e spacing. The deepest raised character we produce.
Layer 3 — High-Strength Adhesive Bond
The 5mm acrylic characters are bonded to the plate using high-strength adhesive — permanently securing them under all UK weather and temperature conditions.
Layer 4 — 3mm Reflective Acrylic Backing Plate
White (front) or yellow (rear) 3mm reflective acrylic base. Meets all DVLA and BS AU 145e reflectivity requirements for road-legal UK number plates.
5mm Ultra-Deep Raised
The deepest raised acrylic characters we offer — nearly double the depth of standard 4D plates. Instantly noticeable at any distance.
Premium Gel Coat
Smooth, glass-like polyurethane gel coat over every raised character — adding exceptional gloss, depth, and durability to the 5mm base.

Yes — 5MM Gel number plates are 100% road legal in the UK. The 5mm raised depth of the acrylic characters
and the additional gel coat do not affect any mandatory specification under BS AU 145e. What matters for legality
is the font (Charles Wright), character height (79mm), spacing, and reflective backing — all of which our 5MM Gel
plates meet precisely. Every plate is inspected before dispatch by our DVLA-registered facility.
